Extremely menacing vibrations
Strange feelings on this last Sunday before Thanksgiving. This house feels cold to me, even though the temperature reads 70 degrees. The stereo is playing an old Tom Waits record that I thought I'd lost. Its off keyed harmonies and rough percussion is probably what's causing this brief side trip into bittersweet nostalgia. His music tends to do that. You either feel that way, or you just figure he can't sing worth a damn and crank up the latest Britney Spears track instead.

A lovely evening at Lodge
I had a lovely evening at Quaker City #500 this evening. We took care of business in short order and everyone seemed in good spirits. I enjoy going to Lodge because it lets me forget about whatever else may be going on in my life. I enjoy the sense of camaraderie and support from each other. This is the perfect antidote to the sometimes hostile climate at work.

Austen's trivial situation
I had a good day at work today. This is a notable exception from the last week, considering the numerous foulups and random chaos that has marked my job performance recently. My co-workers and I were motivated to get the job done. We did, and we did it well.
It seems hard to believe that I find myself in a life where I can be typing on this laptop and watching a Jane Austen movie without wanting to wretch violently. It must be the double of straight Kentucky bourbon. Nothing else could make this situation tolerable.
Today a girl practically threw herself at me while I stood in line at Burger King. It was remarkable not because a girl showed interest in me. Rather, it was odd because I didn't recuse myself when I showed no deference to her. The tendency to blame myself for even the most trivial of social lapses is a strong one in me. I can only hope this is a sign that I am easing up on myself.

Motorcycle class and other random thoughts.
I finished the Motorcycle Ohio course today. It was fun but nerve-wracking in spots. I found myself over thinking too much of the skills we were practicing on the test range. I was also glad that the weather was cooperating this weekend. The temperatures stayed in the low 80's and we even had some cloud cover during a brief period of light rain.
I've had a nice chat with my cousin Elaine in Indiana. It is nice to be able to just chat aimlessly with family with no expectations or bad karma to deal with. I look forward to seeing them in their native habitat of Lafayette. I've already asked her to give me at least a partial tour of Purdue University, which sounds interesting. If they had any openings for research assistants, I would seriously consider it at this point.
